We're halfway there! - Michigan Ticket Fairness

We're halfway there!

The MI House of Representatives did something great today - they passed HB 5108, which would allow fans to buy and sell their event tickets at whatever price they choose.

We're thrilled about this for a number of reasons. Michigan’s current law bans fan-to-fan resale above face value and forces ticket owners to use venue-approved resale websites, all of which charge extra fees and have revenue sharing agreements with venues for the right to resell fans’ tickets.

We think you should be able to sell your tickets at whatever price you choose. We think it's even worse that the current law requires you to cut someone in for their "share" or else face jail time.

Take Tommy for example. Tommy used to work on the docks. His union's been on strike, he's down on his luck. It's tough. So tough.

Should Tommy get arrested for selling the rest of his season tickets to help pay his and Gina's utility bills? We don't think so. In fact, we think it's the least  he can do after she comes home from working at the diner all day.

That's why we're so thrilled to be halfway there. Now it's up to the Senate to pass HB 5108. That way, we can have Sinatra stuck in our head rather than Bon Jovi.
